Big Bite for Wooden Spoon

Congleton rugby players were off the pitch for a friendly invasion of Congleton town centre on Saturday 4th August. Players and their families were taking part in a summer recruitment drive and a fundraising event for Wooden Spoon.

The sum of £250 was raised from a competition to name a Wooden Spoon bear and donations received in exchange for iced fairy cakes.

Kay Stevenson and Sarah Mannion from the Wooden Spoon Manchester & Cheshire Committee came along on the day to offer their support and the charity’s mascot, Woody, made an appearance much to the delight of the children!

Kay Stevenson, secretary for the region comments “On behalf of the regional committee I would like to thank Diane Lea and the players for their fundraising efforts, it was a great way to raise funds for Spoon and much appreciated”.
