Rugby Tournament kicks off in style!

Our first ever rugby tournament took place on Sunday 11 May at Macclesfield Rugby Club.

Six teams took part from the local area, with Bowden RUFC walking away with the first prize trophy.

The day started at lunchtime ending early evening with a raffle and prize-giving. The weather was superb, although made the ground a little hard underfoot!

Fran Cotton, Honorary President for the Wooden Spoon region and Sale Shark’s Steve Hanley were also in attendance to present the prizes.

Charlie, Chairman for the WS region comments “As our first ever tournament the day was a great success and we will definitely be doing the same again next year, but on a much bigger scale!”.

“We raised £1200 which will go into ‘the pot’ for local projects. Thanks must go to Macclesfield Rugby Club for hosting the event for us and to all the teams who took part”.
