Wooden Spoon Charity Golf Day 2007The Manchester & Cheshire Region of the Wooden Spoon charity held their second annual golf day on Thursday 19th July at Prestbury Golf Club. The golf day was held association with Harts LLP, Manwood Wines and Everyday Print, with local firms kindly sponsoring holes and donating prizes. As well as an 18 hole tournament there was a ‘Longest Drive’ and ‘Nearest The Pin’ competition, together with a ‘Gamble Hole’ where competitors could place a bet on their skill to get on the green with as fewer shots as possible. The day was blessed with sunshine and what can only be described as the best weather for July so far, and after the day’s golf a three course dinner was served followed by a raffle and auction. Bill Sharple’s from Motorhouse won with his team, with Bluemantle and Riskworks International coming second and third respectively. Wooden spoons also went to the player’s who played the most golf! The overall figure raised from the event going to Wooden Spoon is estimated at just over £4,000, which will be added to the money the committee have already raised in the last twelve months and will spend on their next local project.
Charlie Womersley, Chairman for the local Wooden Spoon region says “We would like to say thank you to all the teams and sponsors who supported us on our second annual golf day and to Prestbury Golf Club for helping make the day so enjoyable. A fantastic day was had by all and more importantly a great sum of money was raised for Wooden Spoon”. |
